Ken was a valued founder member of Fareham Writers

Ken Howkins wrote only for the pleasure that the activity gave him. 

His training as an engineer distanced him from literary adventures throughout his working life. 

He was well travelled and enjoyed recounting some of the adventures that he was led into by this activity. 

He was an experienced hill-walker, skier, and mariner.
