 OUR HISTORY

Fareham Writers began as a group in 2001, initially meeting in each others homes.

As the number of members grew, bigger premises were needed and the group moved to its current meeting location at Wallington Village Hall.

The aim of our group is to write for the joy of writing, for the pleasure of creating work and pushing ourselves to achieve standards that might be more difficult if we were working alone. Mutual encouragement and working with others who share the same passion - although not necessarily the same opinions - is a tremendous help.

Face to face criticism of another person's work can be a thorny area. Luckily, we have a balanced selection of members who both trust each other (important if you've put heart and soul into something), but who will voice their true opinions.

Our members have gained a lot from the group. Although we write primarily for pleasure, two of us have had work published in national publications.

Fareham Writers have published two anthologies, one in 2004, and our latest in 2007.
